Overview:

Aussie Hoops is Basketball Australia’s official introductory program, providing a fun and inclusive Basketball experience for 5-10-year-olds that serves as an introduction to a lifetime of involvement in the game. In addition to promoting healthy and active lifestyles, the program serves as a platform for social development and inclusion – fostering stronger and more vibrant communities and individuals.

TABA Aussie Hoops Program Details:

  • Programs run each school term, all year round
  • Each term can run from 6-10 weeks
  • Participants can register and complete more than 1 term
  • 1 session per week for 45 minutes 
  • Sessions are for both boys and girls
  • Open for ages 5-10, however as TABA offer an under 8’s program it is ideally for 5-7 year old’s
  • Registration fees include an Aussie Hoops pack
  • Fees are $117.49 for new participants and $74.50 for returning participants (subject to change)
  • Runs on a Friday afternoon from 4.00pm to 4.45pm (subject to change)

Under 8’s

TABA’s Under 8’s program has proved to be a great step in between Aussie Hoops and the Under 10’s competition.

The program is a great opportunity to meet new friends, learn the basic rules of the game and form networks to develop independent teams when moving up into Under 10’s.

TABA Under 8’s Program Details:

  • Aimed for ages 6 to 7 year olds (cannot be turning 8 during the current season)
  • Modified basketball rules (lower rings, 4 quarters, coaches allowed on the court)
  • 1 game per week which aligns with the regular domestic junior competition e.g. Summer and Winter Seasons
  • Runs on a weeknight (subject to change)
  • Teams and coaches are organised by TABA
  • Playing singlet is provided to TABA for the season only
  • It is preferred that participants have completed at least 1 term of Aussie Hoops
  • Boys and Girls competitions open (depending on numbers in some cases merged)
  • Fees are $50.00 plus the BV License Fee of $25.00
